Marine Harvest ASA (OSE: MHG), formerly Pan Fish ASA, is a Norway-based company active within the aquaculture industry. It is engaged in the farming, processing and sale of salmon and related processed products.
Its range of products includes whole gutted fish, fillets, cutlets, as well as a range of other smoked seafood products, steaks, portions and loins of white fish and salmon, coated seafood and elaborated seafood. The Company also offers its own farmed white halibut as whole gutted, steaks and fillets.
Its main areas of operation include Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Chile, Canada, the United States, France, Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands.
The group has a share of between 25 and 30% of the global salmon and trout market, making it the world's largest company in the sector.
The company assumed its current form as a result of massive expansion in 2006, when Pan Fish ASA conducted an effective three-way merger with Marine Harvest N.V. and Fjord Seafood.
