Environment-Friendly Trout Breeding

  (DENMARK, 1/6/2011)

Danforel is a major producer of organic trout fillets. All of the primary produce from this production comes from Danish organic fish farms, which are subject to the most rigorous environmental demands in Europe.

Animal welfare and well-being is a first priority in organic fish farming and strict demands are made on care and water quality.

Danforel is supplied with living fish from Danish fish farms which are subject to the world's most rigorous legislation with regard to production

Only GMO-free feed may be used when breeding trout. The feed must not contain any artificial colouring or ingredients that come from threatened fish species. Breeding is also subject to rigid rules regarding the use of medicine and chemicals. Traceability is a central requirement in the code of practice for organic aquaculture, and another consideration is the protection of the environment.

Danforel produces solely on a contractual basis and, for this purpose, the company has a modern, high capacity, flexible production equipment

Danish organic fish farming is closely monitored and controlled by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. For these reasons, organic trout products from Danforel are eligible to bear the Danish organic label. Danforel is accredited by the German organisation, Naturland, whose logo Danforel uses on the organic products sold on the German market.

Danforel is supplied with living fish from Danish fish farms which are subject to the world's most rigorous legislation with regard to production. Over and above this, Danforel makes a number of specific demands on suppliers. They include the demand for particularly good feed and water quality and the minimum use of medicine in production, and documentation for controlled breeding.

Danforel offers a range of products that can be supplied under its own name or as private label products

When the fish are delivered, they are put into tanks until they are slaughtered and filleted. Less than eight hours elapse from this stage until the fillets have been smoked and packed.

Danforel produces solely on a contractual basis. For this purpose, the company has a modern, high capacity, flexible production equipment.

Systems that create a good working environment and reduce energy consumption as much as possible were used to build up Danforel’s production lines.

Danforel offers a range of products that can be supplied under its own name or as private label products. Special and individual product requirements can be met. Various marinades and spices can be added in accordance with tastes and needs, and individual package sizes are also available.
