King Of The Amazonia
(PERU, 4/3/2012)
The Arapaima, also known as paiche or Amazonian cod, is considered “the king of the Amazonia”.
This fish is listed by CITES as an endangered species in the wild but aquaculture has sustainably guaranteed its continued survival.
 |
| Paiche (Arapaima gigas), a culinary ancient delicacy, also referred to by today's culinary connoisseurs as the Amazonian Cod, is bred by Amazone in total harmony with its natural habitat |
A few years ago, in the heart of protected zones in Peruvian Amazonia, near-wild conditions have been recreated to allow this one-of-a-kind fish to preserve its original qualities.
 |
| Conscious of the fragility of the species and the Amazon, Amazone's operations do not affect its sustainability, since it is not extracted from the wild |
Two companies, Amazone in Peru, and the Adrien Group, sharing the same values for sustainable fish farming, have decided to combine their know-how in order to promote this exceptional fish in Europe.

| A specially designed cold chain and logistics have been developed to produce an exceptionally fresh fish |
The Arapaima (Arapaima gigas), is the largest freshwater fish in the world. It can grow up to 3 metres long and weigh as much as 200 kilograms.
The fish are raised in optimal conditions with controlled feeding, manual food distribution, marine-based diet from sustainable fisheries, without genetic or chemical intervention and absence of antibiotics.
With the greatest respect for its well-being, the fish are raised in low-density basins and extreme precautions are taken while handling the fish so as to mitigate stress.
With its white flesh, its firm yet tender texture, and its subtle flavours, Arapaima is a fish of the highest quality, and is appreciated in the finest restaurants.
