Pangasius now most popular fish in the country

Ten years after Queens Products introduced pangasius to the Netherlands, this is the most commonly eaten fish in the country. In addition, since September, Queens pangasius may carry the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) label for responsibly farmed fish.
In 2011, 5.5 million kg of pangasius were sold, 3 million bags of which consisted of Queens pangasius fillets.
The CEO of Vinh Hoan, Queens’s partner in Vietnam, Truong Thi Le Kahan emphasized the importance and usefulness of close cooperation.
“In a market with lots of competition, it is not easy to develop a sustainable production. Partly thanks to the support and efforts of Queens, we managed to be the first pangasius ASC certified producer," Khanh stated.

In Vietnam, tra belongs, like herrings in the Netherlands, to the country’s culinary culture, explained the head of the economic department and commercial attaché of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands, Giam Dao.
“In Vietnam, more than 1 million people depend on the pangasius sector. We are proud of the ASC certification of Vinh Hoan and hope that together with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), ASC and trading partners such as Queens Products, can optimize the industry further. With Queens we hope to spread the success of pangasius in Europe," he said.
Founded in 1997, Vinh Hoan is the largest pangasius producer in Vietnam. It is located in the Mekong Delta and has over 300 ac of private farms and hatcheries.

Its production sites consist of water treatment plants, laboratories for microbiological and residue studies and state-of-the-art processing locations. Vinh Hoan also has its own factory for fish feed and manages the entire integrated production while employing over 4,000 employees.
