Argentinean inspectors visiting fish plants

A delegation of the National Food Health and Quality Service (SENASA) of Argentina is visiting Vietnam to inspect seafood product processing facilities that could export products to the Argentinean market.
During the trip, the technicians from Senasa are working with colleagues from the National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD), the Association of Exporters and Producers of the Sea products of Vietnam (Vasep) and the Fisheries Directorate (D -Fish).
NAFIQAD Staff informed Senasa inspectors on aspects related to the food control system of Vietnam.
Furthermore, Argentinean delegates were asked to focus on the systematic evaluation of the legal document system, in the capacity of the competent authorities and under the conditions of the food security of fish processing facilities.
The entity has already sent Senasa a full list of the Vietnamese seafood processing facilities registered to make exports to Argentina.
According to Alberto Kaminker, Argentinean ambassador to Vietnam, the food security management system in this Asian country is similar to that in Argentina.
Visitors expect that both parties accept the mutual responsibilities, VietFish reported.
In addition, NAFIQAD notified Senasa about the new legislation which applies to food imports of animal origin.
For the second week of November 2012 the visit of a group of inspectors from NAFIQAD is expected in the South American country in order to inspect the seafood processing facilities in Argentina.
Given the financial crisis affecting several European countries, South America, particularly Argentina and Brazil, are potential markets for Vietnamese pangasius exporters.
For the Vietnamese enterprises to enter the Argentinean market, they must obtain NAFIQAD quality certification and should also be inspected and certified by SENASA.
