BigFish is produced by family firm, JCS Fish, in Grimsby.
Our company is owned and run by the Coulbeck family. Founded in 2000, it was set up by husband and wife team, Andrew and Louise, who both come from fish-expert families and were born and bred in Grimsby, Britain's seafood town.
The idea behind our business was to make farmed salmon more accessible to everyone. It grew naturally out of our family involvement in the local seafood industry and Andrew had gained a lot of knowledge and experience during his early career from renowned salmon expert, Jack Carlisle Smith. So a new business focused on farmed salmon seemed like an obvious idea. We even named it JCS in honour of Andrew's early mentor!
Our first customers were catering companies, but BigFish soon followed. With its delicious salmon and sea trout products in distinctive black packs, the BigFish brand has rapidly become established in farm shops, independent retailers and online.
We're still in Grimsby and we now employ around forty people, including the next generation of the Coulbeck clan, Jack and Rosie! Even Louise's Mum joins in to keep us supplied with tea. And we're happy to say that BigFish is well-established and growing fast, so we can share new ideas and our love of healthy fish with more people!
