Dramatic increase in Chinese fisheries imports of concern

The National Council of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Conepe) is warning about the sharp increase being experienced by fish imports from China. Statistics carried out by this entity show that in the past two years, Chinese fish imports have increased 10 times, and shipments from Vietnam and Thailand have also grown at a steady pace.
Given this Asian threat, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA) is studying a tax reduction applied to domestic aquaculture as a protective measure to compete with fish from abroad, Agência Estado reported.
