PacificBlu was founded in 2014 as a merger between three prestigious fishing and seafood companies from Talcahuano: Blumar, Pesquera BioBio and Congelados Pacífico. The aim was to combine the operations of the fishing, processing and sale of Chilean hake and hoki.
Our first phase of business focused on fishing Chilean hake and hoki which were then processed at our frozen foods plant in Talcahuano. Later, but still during our first year, we began to branch out into the giant squid market, using our fishing vessels and frozen foods plant to catch, process and export this valuable resource.
In 2016, meanwhile, we invested in expanding our processing capacity, and also in the purchase and processing of giantsquid from small-scale fishermen who share our objectives of sustainability in the fishing industry.
At the same time, we set ourselves the challenge of actively promoting the consumption of seafood products as part of our interest in encouraging a healthy lifestyle among the population. In 2015, we inaugurate our very own Alcopa Showroom in order to allow our neighbors and workers the chance to purchase PacificBlu products at wholesale prices and export quality.
Then, during 2017, we were able to incorporate two new lines of business thanks to the opening of our breading plant, the only one of its kind in Chile, and the creation of our El Golfo Comercial company. This new company, with its El Golfo brand, distributes products throughout Chile on the retail market and, thanks to a partnership with CIAL Alimentos, is now present in more than 40 thousand local stores up and down the country.
Following the incorporation of these two new lines of business, PacifcBlu has become Chile's leading supplier of added value seafood products.
Our company's goal is to continue to grow on the domestic market with innovative added value products under both our Alcopa and El Golfo brands, both of which are already available in even the farthest-flung corners of Chile.
