Complex seafood supply chains made more secure.

Time-Temperature Solution Perfect for Reduced Oxygen Packaging

  (UNITED KINGDOM, 2/15/2018)

Timestrip®, an agile technology business that designs and manufactures time and temperature indicators, will be demonstrating its 3°C Seafood, 5°C, 8°C & 10°C irreversible ascending temperature indicators at the Seafood Expo North America in Boston, Massachusetts from March 11, 2018 – March 13, 2018.

Timestrip will be at booth #1388, where you will be able to get a sample of the Irreversible Seafood Temperature Indicators to test and take away with you.
A newly launched product aiming to protect seafood packaged in reduced oxygen environments, Timestrip Seafood will be able to detect breaches in temperature during processing and transport, making it safer for products such as crab meat and scallops to be delivered. The indicators will provide a reliable indication when the food is stored above 3°C, conditions in which they may develop Clostridium botulinum (C. bot) bacteria, responsible for food-borne botulism.

Timestrip indicators are small labels which can be stuck directly onto seafood packaging, crates or a carrying card.

Some of the advantages of using Timestrip Seafood are their very long shelf life and the lack of special requirements for transport or storage prior to activation. They are also low cost and simple to use.

Timestrip has developed a special adhesive for the self-adhesive indicators used in seafood applications to protect them in the wet environment of processing. The company even optimised the labelling on the front of the Timestrip Seafood indicator, after consulting with the FDA, to let processors know when a breach event had occurred and when the product should be discarded.

Each  Seafood  indicator  contains  a  blue  coloured  solid  that  will  melt  and  travel  at  a  known  rate  through  a  white  membrane if the temperature breaches 3°C/37°F. The time elapsed from the breach is indicated by blue in the 2 hour window or blue in the 4 hour window.

“We are delighted to have introduced this product ahead of Seafood Expo”, said Timestrip CEO Reuben Isbitsky. “It will make an important contribution to controlling C. bot borne infection in many seafood lines.”

The activation tools are available to automate the activation, conditioning and application process for the indicators. Timestrip is available in two formats: singles in packs of 100 or on tolls of 4,000 units for ease of use by processors.

Free, optional secure audit trail data with the new Timestrip Temperature app.

Timestrip temperature monitoring labels make tracking temperature breaches across a multitude of cold chain food industry applications a simple, cost-effective process.

Timestrip offers the most cost-effective solution of its type in food standard and food safety monitoring, which is why its technology has already been adopted by a number of innovative businesses. These precise, efficient, user-friendly temperature indicator labels are helping to ensure effective cold chain management around the world.

Timestrip´s 3°C Seafood indicator is designed around FDA guidance, the gold standard for Health & Safety and HACCP systems.

About Timestrip UK Ltd.

Timestrip®  is a leading developer of ‘smart indicator’ technology that designs and manufactures time and temperature indicators. The company works in consultative partnerships with global brands, leading OEMs and product designers.

Timestrip Enabled™ products drive changes in supply chain standard operating procedures and consumer behaviour, which in turn leads to greater brand loyalty, a better rate of sale and a built-in value-added proposition to products carrying our mark of innovation. The company's customisation capabilities open endless possibilities for product design integration to create solutions where its fail-safe indicators replace the need for expensive and unstable electronic components.

Timestrip does this against a backdrop of proven success in key sectors with application specific solutions in life sciences, cold chain (food and healthcare) and filtration. One such example being our Timestrip® Blood Temp 10°C temperature breach indicator label created for blood bags – now saving time, money and precious blood stocks in blood banks and hospitals throughout the world.

The company has created a core product range which it holds in stock ready for quick shipment. Timestrip has the capability to print batch numbers or serial numbers onto individual Timestrips, to make time and temperature monitoring an integral part of Standard Operating Procedures.
Innovation remains a core strand of the company's approach to solution development and the practical application of its patented, low-cost smart indicators.
