The Chamber of Deputies approved the bill that authorizes the relocation of mussel aquacultural concessions as well as those of other resources other than salmon.
Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca) Eduardo Riquelme said that "We are very satisfied because the Chamber of Deputies has released the bill that authorizes the relocation of the mussel concessions in order to begin the reorganization process of concessions, mainly in Los Lagos region. "
"This will allow compliance with a requirement that the Comptroller made many years ago in order to correct the incorrect placement of concessions," said the undersecretary.
The authority stressed that until now there was no tool that would allow the relocation to proceed, in a more agile way and "respecting interested people’s rights".
The proposal contains other provisions in addition to those relating to the relocation of farming centres, such as that which creates the figure of special permit for the collection of seeds, outside the aquaculture concessions.
These authorizations will enable the right to use and enjoy portions of sea and seabed for the installation of seed collectors.
"We are satisfied with this legislative advance, and we hope that the Senate will soon be able to hear about this initiative and also approve it," the assistant secretary added.
