  • OPP80 Armadores Punta del Moral takes another step forward in the commercialization of all its products and in its commitment to sustainability with the creation of the “Lonja de Ayamonte” brand, which guarantees a maximum degree of freshness and quality.
  • On the occasion of the launch of the quality label, online orders will be accompanied by a very appetizing gift: a kilo of white shrimp.

Ayamonte - After the inauguration last March of a production facility to meet the exponential growth of orders from its online store, the Punta del Moral Shipowners achieved another milestone by presenting an umbrella brand for the 29 species captured by their fleet . "Lonja de Ayamonte" will be the hallmark that, from now on, will accompany these products and that guarantees the highest quality parameters in the capture, treatment on board, unloading and subsequent handling.

“Lonja de Ayamonte” acts as a differentiation tool, since it distinguishes the fishery products of the Punta del Moral shipowners that are part of the OPP80, in particular fresh fish and shellfish from coastal fishing with tides of a maximum of four days.

Among the main objectives of this seal is to promote the responsible consumption of local fish products, making it easier for consumers to identify them with respect to others. In this sense, the technical specifications of the brand and the controls established by the organization to ensure compliance with them guarantee that the foods bearing the “Lonja de Ayamonte” distinctive offer a maximum degree of freshness and quality.

The brand also represents the commitment of the members of the Punta del Moral Shipowners Association (Andalusian Cooperative Society OPP80) with the preservation of the quality of fresh fish, from a sustainable activity, as well as their commitment to the future of fishing communities local.

In order to meet the requirements of the “Lonja de Ayamonte” seal, the Punta del Moral shipowners have carried out a course on good practices organized by the OPP (organization of fisheries producers), where they were trained in aspects related to product handling certified in order to guarantee the conditions associated with the brand. In this line, the products that make use of it must undergo an external certification and control system.

Regarding the production method, the foods covered by the “Lonja de Ayamonte” certificate have to meet certain conditions such as certifying the development of sustainable fishing practices, respect for the closed seasons regulated by current regulations and the voluntary ones established by the OPP itself, compliance with measures to reduce fishing effort, reducing the impact of its activity on the marine environment and participating in the fight against climate change through energy efficiency. Likewise, the fleet has to meet other requirements in the unloading, in the fish market, in the packaging and in the labeling of these products.

For their part, distributors, marketers and points of sale may make use of the image of the new brand for consumer information purposes and proving with documentation that the product meets the requirements of "Lonja de Ayamonte".

And to celebrate the obtaining of the distinctive seal with all customers, orders placed through the association's online store will bring a very appetizing gift: a kilo of white prawn from Huelva.
