The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced that the Department of Food Import and Export Safety of the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) has updated the scientific name of the squid in the "proposal to export aquatic products to China".
In this regard, PRODUCE said that with this decision the access of the squid Dorytheutis gahi to this market is again authorized.

It should be noted that this communication was addressed to the Embassy of Peru in China and retransmitted to the Fisheries Health Agency (Sanipes), entity that had made the request earlier this year.
The Ministry explained that after the People's Republic of China established a list of species authorized to enter its market, the squid was left out of it in 2017.
However, thanks to efforts made by Sanipes, this product, which is caught in the north-central coast of the country, especially between Piura and Chimbote, can now return to the Asian giant.
